In my Magazine Writing class last year, my professor asked the class to make a bucket list. This was asked based on an article we had to read that was due for that class. The article was about a woman who had cancer. She didn't write the article as things that are inspiring or to leave an admired lesson. Instead, she wrote about how much it sucks to know that you're about to die, at any moment, between the time she found out to the time she was told she had left. It was emotional, raw, and powerful. She also mentioned that a creative writing graduate from my college found out that he had cancer and the rest of his lifespan was a year. The only wish on his bucket list was to finish his novel and hopefully have it published before he passes.
We had to go on our class forum page online and make a bucket list. Unfortunately, she deleted the forum so I can't put everything that was on that list on here. From hearing about that college graduate and reading that story, it inspired me to write another bucket list. So here are the things that I wish to do in my lifetime before I die:
1. Stand on the ground where the Statue of Liberty is.
2. Go to the World War 2 memorial in DC.
3. Watch the sun set at the Grand Canyon.
4. RV all over the US.
5. Have at least one of my photographs (past or future ones) in a gallery.
6. Live in Manhattan.
7. Eat a gyro, at the Gyro II restaurant near Madison Square Garden, whenever I'm in NYC.
8. Own a beach house.
9. Shake Adam Brody and Shia LaBeouf's hand.
10. Spend a weekend at Montauk.
11. Witness gas become cheap again.
12. Write a best-selling novel (and as an extra bonus, have a great author tell me they enjoyed it).
12. Ride a ferris wheel (yes, I've never been on one).
13. Maybe ride a roller coaster (they scare the living daylight out of me).
14. Buy a saxophone.
15. See the sun set on a Californian beach.
16. Ride a horse.
17. Move to the Carolina's when I retire.
18. Have my wedding on the beach... or near the beach.
19. Watch my mom find happiness again with my dad.
20. Start living green hardcore when I have my own place.
21. Have a child when I'm ready.
That's about all I can think of for now. I tried not to make too many of them materialistic things because once I die, they won't be with me anymore (some of them I just can't help though ). The things that aren't will always stick with me. I don't think that doing something like this is morbid. I think it's wishful thinking, but I also think that it's good hopes for my future. Some I know I will reach, others I will probably never get to experience. Some of them have a personal reason/meaning, others are just an in-the-moment thing. Either way, it's my life and these are only some of the things I wish to fulfill in my lifespan. And who knows, maybe I can actually do all of these things before my bones get weak, athritis starts to kick, and I forget who I am. I can only imagine.... |

1. I was born in New York City. When I tell this to most people they are pretty shocked.
2. Going to college on the other side of the state that I live in was the smartest decision I've ever made. I needed to experience something new and I did. Along the way, I met some of the most amazing people I can call my friends.
3. I can't wait to leave the town that is located where my college is. Even though I think it was a really great decision to come here, I'm sick and tired of some of the people I know here.
4. My sister is my best friend... I don't know if I've actually told her that though... can't remember. I'm sure she'll know now that I tagged her.
5. Even though I love writing and words more than I can possibly express, I don't think I'm an amazing writer. I've seen other people's stuff and I get floored. However, I learned in one of my creative writing classes that most writers thing of their writing to be inferior.
6. Along with this writing topic, I can't help but get mad whenever someone really disses books, grammar, punctuation, and etc. I don't think a lot of people realize how vital it is in the real world. I know mine isn't perfect (and I'm trying to improve). I wish people would appreciate it more. I think that laziness is a factor in it.
7. I developed an interest for photography when I got my first digital camera from graduating high school. At first I didn't care to do things right, as long as I took a photo. I've noticed as the years have passed through college that my photographs have gotten better. I wanted to get an SLR camera for this passing Christmas but it cost about a grand (with everything included). I opted for a Nintendo Wii instead.
8. On a more funnier side, when I was really young, I thought that when I went to bed every night that alligators would bite off my feet. I thought by covering them with my blankets would protect them. To this day, I can't really sleep without the blankets under my feet, it's become a habit.
9. I met my boyfriend almost 8 months ago online. When I thought most people would be sketched out by this, I got the opposite reaction. I never thought that I would be the type of person who would do that, but I'm glad I did. I don't think I've ever been happier with someone else (like I have SOOOO much experience... lol).
10. Because of my mother, I like watching HGTV. However, I hate the shows that spruce up houses so they can get sold faster. I think if I got someone to fix up my house professionally before I moved out of it, and saw how beautiful it looked, I'd be tempted to stay.
11. I went to a PostSecret event the day before my birthday this year (for those of you who don't know what PostSecret is, go to www.postsecret.com), and when I heard everyone else tell their secrets, I realized that my past life wasn't as hard as I thought. It made me even more grateful for what I have.
12. I used to spend my money recklessly, like it didn't matter. I've learned from that mistake and now think bad of other people who spend the money like I used to. Maybe they will learn from the mistake as well. I also don't really feel bad for people who are in debt. Maybe that makes me mean, but I don't care. I think that it's their fault.
13. In high school, I joined the Drama Club. My initial reason for doing it was so I can make more friends than the ones I already had and because it would look good on college applications. It was hard at first, and I got yelled at countless of times. In the end, I think people appreciated what I did, and I am grateful for everything that I got out of it. I miss it badly. I've never been able to fully express what it gave to me, and, perhaps, I never will be able to.
14. When I was really young, I made a book called "I Love the Moon." It consisted of drawings more than writing and it really had nothing to do with the moon. I found it over Thanksgiving break.
15. I have an interest in history and traveling. I think I get both from my grandfather. He was a history teacher in the schools of Manhattan. He also traveled with my grandmother all over the world before my dad and aunt were born. I think he didn't go to five or six places, though.
16. One of my greatest dreams is to see the sun set at the Grand Canyon. My mother used to be a truck driver (yes, the ones that go across the country, not a small truck) and said the view of the sun setting there is something she'll never forget.
17. When I get married, I want to have my honeymoon in Greece. I think the country is one of the most beautiful in the world. It also doesn't help with my obsession for the beach...
18. My closest friends at college call me the "Granny" driver because I drive the slowest of them. As much as this really bothers me inside, I figure that it also makes me one of the safest drivers out of them. Speaking of safest drivers, my aunt told me that I drive better than my dad. He's 63. That says something.
19. I miss freshman year (except for the months of January and February) more than anyone knows. I just don't let it show because no one I know at college will understand what I'm talking about really.
20. I like to think that I have a really great collection of music, and I intend to make it better. I can't bear not listening to music more than a few hours. I listen to it as background noise while I'm reading, cleaning my room (that's a biggie), or just want to sing. I love music with my heart. Just don't ask me if I have a favorite band/musician/singer/etc or favorite song.... that's impossible in my mind to pick just one song or person/band/etc, especially because there is an infinite amount of it out there.
21. I've been to Canada twice, several states, Malta, Sicily, Italy, and France. I'd go back to Italy any day. The people were friendly and the food was amazing. Like I said before, I have an interest in traveling. I want to go to every state in the US and go to at least one place on every continent. There's so much beauty out there in the world. I refuse to be stuck in the same place.
22. Christmas, New Years, and Chanukkah are my favorite holidays. Passover's a close follow.
23. I am a proud Jew and it makes me furious to no end when I hear that people don't believe the Holocaust happened. Let's not get me started on that topic.
24. When I retire, I want to move to the Carolina's. The Notebook inspired the idea. After looking at the land, I've realized that it's an aesthetic place that I can't wait to explore. Plus, houses are killer cheap.
25. Long Beach Island will ALWAYS be my favorite vacation spot. I find that most of the "popular" places I've been to aren't as awesome as LBI. It makes me happy to love a vacation beach area that isn't so popular, but have been going to since I can remember. |

AHHHHHH!!! I PASSED MY PORTFOLIO EXAM!!!!!!! I just found out today, and I'm like on cloud 9! I was so worried that I wasn't going to pass because of some things, but I did =D it feels so nice. I'm so happy! That's another thing that I don't have to worry about anymore. Now, all I need to do is finish this paper and take another final exam and I should be A ok.
So since I'm here, I guess I'll do a reflection of my school year... my last one ever.
It started off awesome pretty much. No drama. I was glad to be back for my final year of school. I saw my friends and everything. I was just pushing... 2 1/2 months with my boyfriend, Rich. And I admit, I was nervous about how we were going to be with the long distance thing. I was more nervous about him because he's never done something like it before; I didn't know how he'd react to it all. And I can honestly say that he was more than a trooper. He dealt with so much. He was really sad a lot of the time in the beginning because I was gone for a month sometimes and then three weeks next. He kept seeing me as much as he could last semester. It was really nice.
We went to the beach with my mom and sister and her boyfriend/best friend at the time. That was a little fiasco in more ways than one. My sister and my mom had a big blowout and that was the same weekend as a friends birthday here. I don't want to talk about my mom and sister though so I'll talk about the friend. I warned her in like a months advance that I wasn't going to here at school for her birthday. She proceeded for the rest of that month to make fun of me here and there. That was probably where she started to change, which I'll talk about later. I felt really bad that I wasn't going to be here for her birthday so I offered to take her out somewhere after I get back. And I'll pay for her food and drink. But anyway, so I went to the beach, had a GREAT time, and then came back here. She never spoke of how she felt about me leaving, and never even took the offer to go out. So I assumed that she was ok, and that she wasn't offended. The rest of the semester went pretty well. I had a great time with my friends and I made a new one.
Christmas on the Hill was awesome. It was probably the best weekend ever. Rich and I got a room at a hotel that had the BEST beds in the WORLD. It was awesome. And I know that it might seem silly to get a hotel room when we can just stay at school but we wanted to have a weekend to ourselves, since we didn't see each other for like a month at that time. The food wasn't bad. A lot of people had their chicken raw but mine was good, and so was Rich's so I didn't complain haha. The dessert was good too. I forget what it was, but I know that I really liked it. The dance was awesome as well. I sweat A LOT. We left it early because we wanted to just relax. We ended up watching a movie haha.
Then came this semester haha. It started off ok. Friends were good and everything. Then one person started acting differently. It was like after a week of classes starting again. She just started being different with how she normally was. She was intentionally trying to start fights with me or get under my skin. And I'm not going to just sit back there and let her do that to me because it came from nowhere. But she just kept bickering about everything and she would keep making jabs at me. I wasn't understanding where it was coming from either. I didn't get it. And then I heard through the grapevine that she wasn't planning on coming to my birthday celebration. She was intentionally planning to go home and hang out with one of her good friends. So I got upset. And I know, people might think, "Well you missed hers, why should you be mad?" And people have asked me why I was mad here too. And I said that I had plans, I couldn't get out of them. I warned her in a month's advance, I told her that I'd make it up to her after I came back, and that we could go wherever she wanted us to go. She was planning to not go to mine out of nowhere and I didn't get it. I talked to another friend about it and she told me that this girl... let's call her Lauren, was really upset that I didn't go to her birthday celebration. She also took some low shots about my writing (I'm a creative writing major at school), one of them being that just because I can write a good narrative doesn't mean that I'm a good writer. And that really made me mad because Lauren has never read any of my stuff, for the most part. So she had no right to say that. But I moved on from that and just enjoyed my birthday to come. Lauren came up to me and asked who was driving for my dinner celebration and I said me and another good friend, Dani. And she said that I shouldn't drive on my birthday and that she doesn't mind driving. And I told her that I made up my mind and it's me and Dani. So I guess she talked to Dani and she came back to me later that day and said so me and Dani are driving. And I was mad because it's like... what don't you get? But I just said ok, and walked away. I didn't want Lauren to drive because I knew that she'd probably complain and whatnot about wasting gas money.
So the day came, and we drove around a lot because all the restaurants that I suggested were really busy. We eventually went to Red Robin, which is fine by me, but I didn't really want to go there because I went the last time. The food was good nevertheless. And people were asking me what I wanted to do after and I said, I don't know, Coldstone maybe? I didn't want to go right away though because I knew that people would need to digest their food before they could have ice cream. But we went to Coldstone right after anyway. So that night, we got back, and a close friend... I'll call her Donna, told me that Lauren and another girl were talking about me in the car. They were complaining that we were driving all over and she was losing gas and that I should have decided on a place before we left. And they said other things as well but that's all Donna told me. I was livid, I was REALLY angry, because I knew that she would complain, I KNEW it.
Later on in the semester, Dani and Donna were getting angry at Lauren because of how she was treating me and how she was acting in general. So Lauren asked Dani had a confrontation, where Dani basically told her that she didn't like what she was doing and how she was treating me when I was being a good friend to her. So how did that turn out? Lauren didn't talk to me for four days. And I had no idea why. Finally, I had to confront her, NOT her coming to me. And I told her everything, I was pissed about how she acted on my birthday and how she said that she wasn't even going to go in the first place and how she was mad because I didn't go to hers when I OFFERED her to do something after on me, and how she was trying to start petty fights with me that meant nothing. She basically denied everything except her birthday. But Donna told me later on that she didn't feel that she did anything wrong by not talking to me. HOW DO YOU NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT? I don't get that AT all. This is where I knew that Lauren and I weren't going to have the same friendship that we used to have, but I was hoping to have something good, anything at this point. But she kept being her stupid self. She kept treating me like crap. She started treating my friends bad too. She started hanging out with people that she was calling her best friends. One of them is a freshman...well she has two friends that are freshman, one is really nice and I like her but the other is a douchebag. And what I don't get about her being "best friends" with her is that she talks about her all the time about how annoying she is and how she is attached to her hip. And then she started talking about how this girl flirts with the guy that Lauren likes, when she told this girl that she likes the guy. WHY WOULD YOU STAY FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO DOES THAT RIGHT IN YOUR FACE? So I don't get her at all. It was at this point that I felt she was a hopeless case, and that I was starting to not care about being her friend anymore. And then Donna told me that she said a comment about my boyfriend last semester. The first or second time he came here, and everyone met him, he bought us chinese food, out of being nice. After Rich and I left and whatnot, Lauren said that my boyfriend was dry as toast. And Donna said that he may be that but he was nice enough to get everyone food and whatnot. Lauren basically just shrugged and mumbled. It was then that I did not want to be her friend anymore. I don't care if people say something about me, go right ahead. But don't you dare say something about the people that I love, whether it's my family or my boyfriend or my best friends. She had the BALLS to say something like that about my boyfriend.
So now, at the end of the semester, I am not friends with that girl. She means nothing to me. I have no feelings towards her. And I don't care about her anymore. I heard that she got weightlisted from the grad school that she applied to. And to be honest, I don't really feel bad. She has a job that she was really excited for. And I know that it's not going to be her chosen career. But you can reapply for grad school, which I know she will. She's not going to just settle for a BA in her major, I do know that much about her. I'm sure she's crushed, but I don't have any feelings for her anymore so I don't care. I know that she'll do great. But I hope that she sees this as a wake up call, a slap to the face. Life isn't easy, and it only gets harder as we grow up. Deal with it, don't cry or drown your sorrows with alcohol.
On a lighter note, I became REALLY good friends with Dani. She's probably my best girl friend here. And that's kind of ironic, because I've never really had a great girl friend. It's usually guys, I never got that lol. We hang out all the time, and I can tell her mostly anything. I think she feels the same way as well. I try to be a good friend to the ones who deserve it, and she really needed that this semester. She went through the same predicament as I did. Except her friend just stopped talking to her all of a sudden and Dani didn't know why, but she doesn't care about her anymore either. Dani needed a good friend, and I tried to be that for her, and I think I became very successful at it lol.

I have my Senior exit presentation today. I'm so nervous!!!! My whole future rides on this haha. And it's a half hour! Bah! Well at least, it's only with my advisor and another English faculty member. If it was in front of all the English faculty, I think I'd faint or have a heart attack.
I have to defend my chosen genre for creative writing. I'm not sure, though, if I have to defend why I'd be great at it, or my knowledge about it. So I have a note card for why I'd be good at it. If I had to defend in both ways, I hope I do well. I'm just really nervous. I had to give in my portfolio as well on Monday, which was another headcase by itself. It took me a week to get it to look how I wanted it to. I even had to buy a three inch binder because my two inch could handle all the paper I had in there. Even my three inch was bulging, but just a teeny bit. One of my professors said that he saw my portfolio, and he said that it was really thick. I told another professor what I was going to put in it and she jokingly called me an overachiever. But I just want them to see my overall improvement.
As for the reasons that I think I'd be good at writing children's books (whether they be picture or novels) are as follows:
I am great at giving detail in my written work.
I believe in myself.
Setting.
The satisfaction I get from writing.
The importance of a lesson.
I am a child at heart

I love that I can I can walk around my boyfriends town with him, or go to the park. I love that I can raft or kayak. I love the beach and how the sand exfoliates my feet, which is needed. I love how the water is cold and it takes me 10 minutes to go completely under. I love collecting shells and watching the sun rise in the morning. I never did a year-end review.... but that's ok. 2008 has been treating me well so far.
January was a bit boring. My sister's birthday happened (not too boring), I worked (semi boring) and then I returned to school in the end. School has been really tough this semester. It's not as bad as last semester though, but it's still the same work really.
February was a pretty good month. I turned 21 and boy did I have a good birthday haha. Heather came up for the weekend. I went out with my friends to Red Robin for my birthday dinner, which was fun. Then I went to Isaac's for my first legal drink. It was a Long Island Iced Tea. It was really strong... like killer strong lol. I had to have Heather, Erin, and Elyse help me down a bit of it so I could get it refilled with more soda. Then I had a pomegranate smirnoff. It was really tasty. Overall, I had a really good birthday.
Then the 19th, I went to Baltimore to see Linkin Park in concert. That was amazing. I haven't been to a real concert in like 3 years so, needless to say, I was pretty happy. Baltimore was a really nice city... small, but nice. I love the harbor, it was beautiful. The concert was effin awesome. Chris got the recording of it because he's a part of some LP club. I listen to the songs pretty much all the time. They performed so well. Some parts were pitchy but Chester got Bronchitis I think 2 weeks after our show so I'm going to assume he was starting to get it at our concert. But yeah, the concert was amazing. I can't really remember if anything else happened that was major in February. I think Alyssa, Elyse, Chris, and I took a road trip in February but I don't know what date that was. It was still a good trip though, I think I had a bad night and I needed to get out and they all wanted to come along. We went to Wheeling, WV to Steubenville, OH to Pittsburgh, PA, then back to school. It was about a 5 hour trip but I liked it a lot. It made me want to take a longer trip... but not too much longer.
March has been pretty uneventful as well. Break started a week ago but I haven't done anything except go to work. Dominick won't be in until Saturday morning latest. Katie's birthday is Saturday also. I go back on Tuesday to school. I don't want to go back lol. I'm having such a relaxing time at home, not including working every day so far haha.

I can't beleive summer is over in 4 days. It's just so weird that real life is going to start. I'm excited for school to start because I miss my friends like crazy but I'm REALLLY not looking forward to the work... like at all. I've never had a semester this challenging before. I'm kinda worried. I just really need to focus and not be distracted by anything this semester. I want to really get ahead of my work so I can have free time during the weekends and at night. I want to keep up with my tv shows... which aren't many but still... I'll have AI, Greys, October Road, Smallville, I kinda want to watch that Reaper show and maybe Gossip Girl.... The Hills.... most of these are late at night though... I wish Kyle was on during the year. Lincoln Heights too!..... I'll try my best but I know how I was last year with doing that lol.
I'm almost done packing for school. I packed everything but clothes, that comforter thing that goes under my bed... which there is room for lol and then the bags for my garbage and the woofer thing for my speakers since that's the thing that makes the sound work and all lol... oh yeah and that sign. But that's it. Everything else is packed. It's so weird that when I was a freshman I had two fully packed cars that had my things in it and then last year I had a car and a half of my things and now it's just a carload lol. What's more odd is that I learned how to pack the things I need. Because I was never able to do that... I still can't lol. But I'm glad because that means I won't have to come home the next weekend to pack more things and bring it to school. Mom keeps telling me not to bring a lot in case I don't return for Spring semester but I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure I do return. I can't just not come back to school. I don't want to talk about this right now though. I'm in a good mood and I don't want that ruined. I still have more clothes to pack but that's ok. I need to do laundry before I do anything else. I'm not going to school without do laundry lol.
I'm really happy mom is giving me her car. I'm glad that she trusts me enough to hand me her car. I'm going to take really good care of it. I think if I pass my driving test, I'm going to go home and clean the car inside really well. It's going to rain the day I leave for school so there's no point in cleaning the outside of it.... K well now it says it's not going to rain the day I go to school. So that makes me happy. I might clean my car then... OOOH I should go get an air freshener. That's like christening the car that is going to be mine haha. And it's not like they cost a lot anyway. Man if I get my license it's going to be a real achievement. I think that's what I'm worried about most... that if I don't get it, I'm going to be disappointing dad and mom. They have so much confidence that I'm going to pass but I'm just really scared of parking. I'm good at it but I'm still scared. I'm going to try and just control me being scared (because I know I will be) and just focus. If I don't focus then I'm surely going to fail. I can drive easy I'm just really worried about the parking. I don't know what dad's doing but I'm sure we'll drive later, unless he's not feeling good. I want to go practice at the DMV and dad said we can do it after they close... so that makes me happy.
I can't believe that I packed a lot of stuff and that I have very little that's going in my car. I feel like I packed for hours... which I kinda did but still. I have so much decorating stuff. I can't wait for that. I've waited four months to stick something on my walls and I'm going to do it soon. I just can't wait, I miss Elyse and Chris a lot. I miss other people but I miss them two the most. I told Chris that he should hang out in my room when I get there. But I have a lot of things I need to do before I even contemplate unpacking first. I need to get that driving thing to stick in my car. I need to get me a new card. I need to get my key and give back the laundry card I have from last year... either that or keep it and they just not give me one. I'm excited to get a key lol. I need to get another key cord thing for my car keys. I don't think I'd like to have my car keys and my school keys together. I'll probably get one in AE, PacSun, or go cheap and get on in Walmart or something like that. I don't even know if AE would have one. PacSun might... I think Journey's definitely would but I don't think there's a Journey's in the Westmoreland Mall. I haven't been there since I left for school... and even a little before then so I don't know. I just think it's a good idea if I have two different sets of key chains.
It's a weird feeling to sit behind my car. MY car! lol. I have a car haha. Usually a 16 year old acts like this. But I've waited 4 years to get this. 4 very long years haha. And I can't spend anymore money on bus rides and missing classes. I can go home whenever I want to. Not someone else. I loved going home with Sped, the rides were fun. But now I'm going to go home whenever I want, any day. I don't think there'll be any family emergencies any time soon so I won't have to suddenly leave. And I can bring people back to my house. We can take trips to anywhere... well anwhere within a weekends distance. And I don't mind sleeping in my car to go somewhere. I want to go somewhere and see the sun set. I'm going to try and take a roadtrip here and there to anywhere. Maybe Elyse will come with me. But I won't make it sudden because she'll need plenty of time to give notice... we're not going to do the same thing that happened last year with the NYC trip. I'm just really excited to go back. It feels like a surreal feeling, which I have no idea why because it's not like I haven't been there before. It'd should feel surreal if I dropped out and then went back. I don't know. I think I just really missed the place. It became my second home...

This summer has been really laid-back so far. For two months, I have seen no ones face but my family and Laura's.... plus a bunch of my mom's patients but they don't count seeing as I don't know them. This Friday, Val is coming from Pittsburgh and staying here until Monday. I'm really excited for her to come down here with me. I don't know where I'm going to bring her but I want her to just have a really great time. And then we're going to the Yankees game!!! That's going to be so exciting lol. I haven't been to a game in FOREVER! So I'm really happy that I'm going. Then I'm going back to Pittsburgh with Val and staying there for about a week. I really want to go swimming or something up there. Elyse suggested Sandcastle. So maybe we'll be able to go. I just want to see my two best friends. I'm so excited to get out of the Pocono's for a little bit. I want to see my friends. I miss Val and Elyse a lot. I talk to Elyse every day it's crazy haha. I just can't wait, it's going to be awesome.
I really hope I get to go to the beach this summer. Mom hasn't pushed Aunt Prissy about going yet and I really need to go to the beach. I've been craving the beach since like... New Years lol. I am so friggin obsessed with the beach it's crazy haha. I also hope I get to rafting with dad. I've been wanting to go rafting for a long long time. Dad said we might go this year. I want to ask Elyse and Val if they'd want to come back over here again and come rafting but I don't know if they'll come. I miss rafting like crazy. That's been something that we do in the summer since I can remember. We haven't done it in a long time. I just miss the water lol. I really want to go kayaking too! Man I haven't gone kayaking in a few years either. I just hope that when I'm down in Pittsburgh, I get to go swimming because I'm craving that time haha.
So mom got her truck for when we go RV'ing the other day. This thing is seriously huge. It sounds like a beast. It definitely can kick Charle's truck any day of the week. It's a black Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel. This thing is slick. It's so shiny I can't take it haha. I opened to door and it smells like that newly clean car smell haha. I need to take pictures of it and put it online or something. I need to show Elyse anyway. I'm so excited for RV'ing. Mom keeps talking about it so I know she's excited too but I can't wait to travel and take pictures. It's going to be two months I'll never forget. I seriously hope that Elyse can come when the time comes that we're leaving. I mean I could do this trip by myself, but I'd rather share it with a friend that I know I'll have a good time with. My mom said I should maybe bring more than one person since you can sleep more than two people in the place where Elyse and I are sleeping. But I think just us two is good... for now at least. I'll think about if I really should invite more people... because that cuts into money to spend on food and everything. My mom knows how to hold herself financially but she can't do that forever. So we'll see. But I seriously can't wait for this. This'll be the icing on top of the cake that is called College haha.
The more and more this summer goes by, the more and more I miss my college friends and want to be back at college. I'm scared shitless of this coming semester. It's going to be the hardest semester that I've ever had to deal with, college and HS. I just really need to stay focused. four English classes are going to be tough. I could maybe drop one and then maybe take it in the summer but I don't want to risk that at all. I'm just going to REALLY have to focus. I won't be able to go out as much as I did last year. I can't risk that... my grades aren't that good to begin with so I just really need to pay attention and do my best. I have a feeling I'm going to have at least one breakdown this semester from all this lol. I hope not because I don't want that to happen. And I have probably the hardest set of English teachers this semester... Arnzen, Honeygosky, McClain (I think) and Wendlend.... Arnzen and Wendlend are spoken highly of. I'm really going to hate Honeygosky's class.... I've heard horror stories from that man teaching ANY class. I'm so not looking forward to that class. I think he graded Amanda hard on her writing which means I'm doomed because she's an incredible writer. And his tests are nearly impossible. And we're taking SHAKESPEARE!!!!! This is going to be impossible. I'm just going to need to stock on highlighters for that class and highlight everything he states in a text or anything... And if he says something I'll have to write it down. Supposedly he ties everything with religion which I'm really not in the mood to hear that crap. It would be natural for him since he's the priest or whatever he is for our chapel in the school. I think the only class I'm going to Enjoy a little is Wendlend's Major British Writers class but there's going to be A LOT of reading for that class. And probably two papers at least. There'll be a lot of reading for Shakespeare.... nothing which I will understand because I've NEVER been able to understand Shakespeare, not even in high school. So that'll be just great. I'll have to read a lot of poetry for Intro to Poetry.... and I don't know how much I'll need to read for Topics in Journalism.... we might have to read different kinds of genres in newspapers. Maybe I'll like journalism after this class but so far I hate it. With that year in HS and taking Intro to Journalism in my freshman year.... it all sucks lol. I was up late doing those News articles for Jerz!!! Like 2:30 late.... I got about 5 hours of sleep average those nights. It was horrible. I have a feeling I might be like that... but at least I can take some naps during the day. I'll just have to be on top of my game. Make little reminders around me all the time. I'll have to be strong against temptations.

So mom and I have really been discussing the RV trip that we want to take together. I'm getting all into looking at things online for RV'ers and all that jazz. It's going to be a really fun time. I don't know if she wants to bring her friend because today she said "Well there'll only be two of us." when we were referring to how big a towable RV we should get. So I don't know. But we decided that we want to head south. The only thing I'm really concerned with is all the hurricanes and the storms... I don't want it to ruin the whole trip. I don't think it would. I mean we could stay in the RV and watch movies or play games we can even sit outside under the awning and just listen to the rain falling. Mom always likes to sit outside at home and listen to the rain. It's also very calming. But anyway, yeah we want to head south like southwest of PA then head through WV into Kentucky and then Tennessee, and we'll hit a little bit of Alabama basically then Georgia then go down the one western side of Floriday and go back up on the eastern side through Georgia again, heading up South Carolina and North Carolina, then going into Virginia, through Maryland and Delaware then head home. It's either that way or going the opposite way. I'm not quite sure yet. So yeah. I think that sounds really good. I'd actually really love this trip because we'll see a whole lot more places than going the other way mom mentioned. I'm just so excited. This is something that I've always wanted to do (go on a long roadtrip). And this is definitely going to be the best opportunity that I'll have to do it in a LONG time. I want to see waterfalls and lakes. I want to kayak and take photographs of beautiful sunsets. I want to go to the beach and swim in warm water. I want to do so many things it's unbelievable lol.
In two weeks from now... well now a week and a half. Laura is taking off work for the week to go to Florida. So mom and I are taking off work as well. We're going to do a whole bunch of things. We want to go to the Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo in NY. We're definitely kayaking on the Delaware River. We thought about going bowling... since I mentioned it haha. And she wants to go to this mine thing and then some place called Cabella's. We talked about going to the Wax Museum. If we can fit that in. She also mentioned horse back riding but I said that we should to that at the end of our week then because our thighs are going to be killing us like mad. So yeah I think that we're definitely going to have an amazing week together. I think we're going to bond more than we ever have before, which is something that I'm actually kinda looking forward to because there's not many times like these where my mom and I bond. The only time we really sit down and talk.... or one of the few times is when she's outside watering her plants and I'm sitting outside (which we did yesterday actually haha). But anyway so I'm really excited for this trip also. I can't wait to go kayaking. It's been FOREVER since I've gone kayaking. I miss it like crazy. But anyway, mom if getting a new car. There's a jeep she's getting for 3500. That's not bad at all. I'm really excited for her to get it because then that means that I'll be getting her car. I'm going to have to clean it though. But at the same time that's really not that bad. It'll take me a few hours. I've cleaned cars before haha. Not for a living of course but I had to clean mom's toyota that one time. And dad and mom make me clean their cars all the time. Ehh I'll probably vacuum it first and then wash it. That's going to be fun. I actually like to do that kind of stuff. I like doing stuff that's kinda boring because I make it light and fun. Like today I had to make packets of papers to go in yellow charts and I thought the whole time about things. So things really aren't that bad. It's just when I sit around, like I am now, when things get boring. I can only take so much of the computer lol.

So I've been home for about 5 days. I'm really glad to be away from college... like REALLY glad. But I miss everyone I know like crazy. My last week at SHU was probably the most hectic week I've had in my sophomore year thus far. I had about 3 papers to write. I spend 9 hours writing one of them. I had three finals and a power point presentation. It was pretty crazy. But Friday night I spent about 6 hours of the night with my best friends. It was a really great night and that is probably ranked the best night before I go home so far. We played games and took a million pictures that you can find via stalkerbook. I'm just going to miss them a lot. Nicole won't be here next year and that really makes me sad. She's such an awesome girl but I know that we'll make a road trip to see her in Maryland. Whatever college she's going to lol.
I also miss Sped. The day before I left, we went to Twin Lakes and just laid there for an hour. We talked of course but I took some pictures as well. It was weird to know that I wasn't going to be seeing that amazing place for four months. I swear, as soon as I go to school I'm going there and just hanging for a few hours. I think I might even do that before I actually head to campus... or perhaps I'll go to campus, unload everything in my room and then just drive to Twin Lakes. But anyway I saw Sped the day I was leaving at Brunch. It was sad, I wanted to cry but I didn't. I gave her the scrapbook. It wasn't full but that's ok; she can fill in her own pages of things that she wants. I wrote her like a three page letter also lol. It was just things that happened over the year, the small and the big. But that letter is a whole other entry because people like to be nosy (and this can also be referred to that one entry that I wrote when I said that I was fed up with people... which was pretty powerful... at least to me). But anyway she kept saying that she was going to cry.. I don't know if she did or if she actually felt like she was going to cry or not. But then she gave me a card that she made and a letter was inside it. It made me want to cry lol. And then she gave me my birthday present haha. Better late than never I say. It was nice: body scrub that smells like chocolate (what girl wouldn't love that) and lotion that smells like the beach. I love it. And there was a card in there. I know I'll see her but I miss her a lot to.
So since I've been home I've basically done nothing. I have sooo much free time on my hands, I'm like..... what do I do? haha. I've been unpacking a lot of stuff... it takes me a LOOOONG time to unpack... I never really did unpack last year. A bunch of things just stayed in my room. My room last year was never really clean for more than a few days lol. It's a complete mess, I can't even walk around in it. But it's getting a little better. I cleared a box out of there today. It's basically a garbage box. I found some old school pictures lol they make me laugh. I also found my old journal from like when I was in 8th grade.... man I was such a loser haha. I talked like such a turd, man I thought I was kewl. Definitely wasn't. I saw Spider-Man 3. I really liked it. Dominick has done nothing but complain to me about it but I thought it was good... it doesn't take much to make me like a movie, as long as I don't feel like I'm losing brain cells, it's not boring, and it's not confusing then I pretty much like it. So my next movie is Pirates 3. I REALLY want to see that haha. I also want to see Knocked Up, Bourne Ultimatum, Harry Potter, Transformers, Fantastic Four 2, And Rush Hour 3. That one should be really good. I think it's been like.... 7 years. If there's any other movies coming out, I can't remember them. I don't know my grades but I think the ones that are going to be pushing the line is AM lit II and Spanish II. I'm really worried for those two classes. I think that my grade for WCT II is going to be in the B's. My grade for Intro to AM History.... that might be a low B.... maybe high C. Well I'm just hoping that I passed AM lit 2 because I REALLY need that class.

Lately, I feel that things around me are stressing me out, specifically school. Why is it that college, and even high school, like to torture their students by piling them up with a whole bunch of homework in the last two months of school? I swear, this entire year has been pretty easy for me and all of a sudden, with Easter break shining upon us, I've gotten loaded with homework. I have to write a ten page research paper on the most crappiest topic I've ever had to write a paper on. I have to write a concept paper, which that won't be that hard honestly, it's just putting it all together that I hate. I also have a test tomorrow in Intro to American History and an exam for that class. I'll have another one come up. And Spanish II is just as hard as ever. The good thing is that I think I only have one final at the end of the semester. So that's something to look forward to I guess. Next year is going to be a killer. I have four English classes and that Hebrew scriptures class. I'm really not looking forward to four English classes. I don't think I've taken four English classes this entire year. I probably did last year but I think I've taken three. Next year I'll be taking seven. Well, hopefully this will help my writing better.
I don't think my American Lit II professor likes me that much. And that kind of sucks because she's also my advisor. And yeah, I don't see her that often, just to do class scheduling and whatnot but still. I never thought that I would think of a professor harder than Jerz. I thought he was pretty hard but she's so technical; I can't stand it at all. I mean I like her as a professor but she's just really hard. I suppose that good because it pushes me but at the same time I don't want to be pushed so much that I'm neglecting all my other classes. Well next year I'm just going to have to be on the ball. I'm really not looking forward to next year. I think this is going to be the hardest academic year I've ever had. I can't miss anymore classes this semester. I've already missed three of Spanish and AM lit.... or two for AM lit. Well the one for Spanish doesn't count because it convienently worked out that she was going to a conference the same day I'd be gone. So I guess I technically missed 2 as well.
I can't wait until summer is here. There's 46 days left until summer as of today. I'm really excited about summer. I want it to be here so badly. I'm really annoyed by school right now. I don't want to be here at all. I mean I love my friends and all but I'm so tired of the work. I think I'm getting summeritis. I mean I can't be getting senioritis because I'm not a senior yet. I love school and all; it introduced me to some of the best friends I'll ever have in my life but at the same time I miss home really badly. I think after seeing my dad in NYC this past weekend, I just really miss home. I miss my family a lot, even if they do annoy me like crazy sometimes. Well Easter break is in 9 days so I'll be home soon. And even better, Amanda can bring me home too so I don't have to pay for an expensive bus ride, just for the one in Wilkes-Barre and that's like 12 dollars. But I also didn't really want to be on a bus for the third time in a month for 8 hours or more. I think being on the bus going back to NY was just horrible. I hated it so much. I didn't want to leave NYC and it made me in a really grouchy mood. I'm still sad I'm not there today but that's ok. I'm glad to see my friends today.
But continuing onto summer lol. I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I know that I'm going to be working for mom as a secretary, which won't be all that bad. I mean I'll be getting paid and I'll also have a job with someone I know will treat me at least semi-decent lol. No, my mom is a good business person and I think she's a little afraid to have me work for her because she thinks I'm a bit lazy, but this is work and I won't be lazy. I'm possibly going to Boston to visit Amanda. I say possibly because she's not entirely sure on what she's doing. But if she goes then I'm going to visit her. I'm hopefully going to Long Beach Island with mom and Heather and mom this time is bringing the kayaks down to the beach because we don't need a license or anything. Dominick told AJ about getting something together possibly. And I'm also planning on going to Milford, Connecticut to visit Eric. That's going to be really fascinating. I can't wait to see what his town and everything looks like. But I'll talk about that in a just me entry lol. I definitely know that I'm going to see a baseball game with Marshall, Val, and my dad. And maybe if the game ends early, dad can take us to the wax museum because I really want to go see that lol. I didn't get to see that when I went to NYC this past weekend. Chris said it cost like 30 dollars to get in so I was like, no never mind lol. I want to take a small roadtrip too with Amanda. I really think that we should do that. I don't know where we'd go but that'd be so awesome to do. I'd also like to raft this summer. I haven't done that in SOOO long. It would be something that I could do with mom because I can't remember the last time she did it. And this time she's single with no one to tie her down and make her think she can't do anything (thank God). She said she'd like to do it. It'd probably be a Saturday because that's a long trip either way. And Heather can come too if she's not busy.... which kind of makes me laugh because she's always busy.
Anyway I went to NYC this past weekend. I shared a room with Elyse and Chris. I saw Ground Zero for the first time since the attack. It was pretty hard to see because it brought back memories of how dad was there that day and how he was fortunate to not work in the trade center buildings. I don't think he was far from them but he was still there. I remembered him telling me the story about how he had to walk across one of the bridges and went into NJ and he went to a bar or some place to get something to eat and the people in there were talking as if our country hadn't been attacked hours earlier. I just stared into the big hole....It doesn't seem like it's been five and a half years. I can't remember that day like it was yesterday... I just can't explain what I felt... it was very emotional for me. It made me grateful so much that dad is alive and that he was fortunate to be in the right place in the wrong time. I don't know what I would have done if had passed away that day. It was probably some of the most intense minutes of my life. And I was only there for about 10 minutes.
Anyway now that I just totally made this thing sad (lol), I think I'm going to end this here. I'm getting bored of writing anyway lol. |

2006 was, by far, the year that I learned the most about myself, about others, and most importantly, the in-betweens through all of that. This was a year, that when I am talking to my future children about the experiences that life lets you seek out for, that I learned more than I possibly ever thought I would have. I reached my highs, I reached my lows, I reached utopia, I reached sadness. I said my goodbyes to people and said "Hello." to others.
Who I was at the end of 2005 is not the same person as who I was at the end of 2006. And I am so happy for that.

Warmth, cheer, Apple champagne, camcorder, noisemakers, kisses.... it was the start to a great year.
At 12:01 on January 1, 2006, I was in my boyfriend's (at that time) house. Everyone was excited for this new year. We stayed up 'til the wee hours of the morning. I saw the sun rise for the first time in a long time. I got 2 hours of much needed sleep. I was cranky. It was one of the best New Years parties ever.

2nd semester at SHU
After spending 5 weeks at home, I did not want to go back to school. I missed everything. I missed home, my friends, my family, my bed, sleeping by myself. But most of all, I missed everything that used to be.
I spent 5 years in this house that I could call my home. I had friends over, I celebrated birthday parties, my graduation party, sleepovers, and so much more.
It was more than I could grasp that I was leaving it again for my other life, the one that I chose for myself. I chose to go across the state. I chose the option of wanting to be that far from my home. But the more I was away from here the more I missed it. I was anxious to see the familar faces of the few true friends I had at SHU but I didn't know when I'd see the faces that I knew so well at home again. It's the risk and experience of life that let me know that I'd be ok. Somehow, someway.

My birthday.
This was the first time that I was away from my family on my birthday. I was honestly not sure what was going to happen on my birthday. I was used to cake, presents, cards, and parties. I knew people at college would remember my birthday because of facebook, but I was sure that's all my birthday would be: a long list of "Happy birthday, Danielle." from people that I knew and even people I didn't know. I was surprised by three people.
Amanda Nichols, Andy Lonigro, and Laurin Hall made cards for me. It was beyond my expectations of what my birthday was going to be like. I was greatly thankful for everything. My boyfriend sent me pink roses and cheesecake pieces. My family called me and wished me happy birthday. People at school wished me happy birthday, even if they wished it on facebook.
It was the best birthday I ever had. I only hope this years is just as great. I'm already planning in my head on what I want to do (I know that's crazy, but you have to know me in order to understand).

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Pre superbowl party on Southside.
It was the most awestruck, speechless moment I've ever encountered. I went to Pittsburgh with Andy, Daniela, Amanda, and AJ. It was a mini-roadtrip that was unexpected (except for Andy, who lives on the west side of Pennsylvania). Fans of all ages and sizes were flooding the streets. They were flowing outside the bars. Fans whipped those terrible towls through the air. A fan from their second story terrace waved a humongous Steelers flag in the air. People in cars were beeping their horns, their competitive spirit wrestling with oxygen in the atmosphere. Fans ran down the streets slapping hands with more fans in the cars.
It was a total, uncontrolled riot.
It unified people everywhere for one night, screaming "HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!". The colors of black and gold were rippling throughout the streets with nothing to break the cycle of the sweeping lines.

This was one of those nights that when you're reflecting back on your life, you remember when you were kid, for two hours in Brownlee 209 with people that made life fresh.
College is meant for education. They show photographs on the brochures of people in classrooms, reading a book in the library, some of the beautiful buildings on your campus. But what they leave out is what people do in the dorms, the fun that all college students really have. You don't need to drink to have one of the greatest nights of your life. Besides, if you get drunk, you won't remember what might have been one of the best nights of your life.
With Amanda's computer blasting songs like "Barbie Girl", "Boom, Boom, Boom", and " Numa Numa", we broke out in crazy dancing. We came out of our shells for those two hours and let every problem we had go through the window. We laughed from other people being silly and even at ourselves. We threw our cares on the floor and, as a group of friends, bonded.

Twin Lakes
Lake Day =)
There is one thing that's always on my mind
shining so brightly in the velvet sky
It's the way that I hope it could always be.
You know when you wish to find your own liece of heaven to get away from it all? The place that when you need to process the thoughts going on in your mind, to think about the problems going on in your life... that place that you can be alone but still feel connected to the rest of the world. This is what Twin Lakes is.
Amanda, David, Andy, Taryn, AJ, Laurin, Becky, and I went for that 15 minute drive to the countryside that you don't see in Greensburg, PA. When I first saw Twin Lakes, I thought the same thing that probably every person who has seen them thought. The first word that came to my mind is peaceful. It was my form of serenity.
The girls rented a paddleboat, the boys a rowboat. We went to the middle of the lake, far from the civilization around the two lakes. David brought his guitar and sang a song called "5 College Girls on a Paddleboat" and "Mandy the Mermaid". Amanda, Taryn, and Laurin shared clothes and jumped in the lake (which we later found out was illegal). It was one of the most amazing days I spent in my freshman year in college.
And for the first time I was almost sad to see it go in a few weeks time.
 
May 5-7th

Another schoolyear has passed once again. But there was something different about this year than any other year. I was on my own for the first time in my life, I made new friends on my own, chose the wrong and right paths to go down throughout the year. We all wanted to end this schoolyear in a way that we'd NEVER forget.
Friday started off with Battle of the Buildings. There was nine of us on a team. We called ourselves The Brownlee Badasses. We dressed in white wifebeaters, black shorts, and white bandanas. WE came down from the brownlee parking lot hill, walking as a group. We looked like we were unafraid of what we were about to face but, in reality, we were all anxious and excited for the rest of the day.
Friday night the RA for my hall was having a floor program that was camping outside behind our dormroom building. All of my friends went. We made meatpies (that aren't really made of meat), smores, we played tag, kicked a soccer ball around that was the size of the blow-up beachballs. We lit a fire while Andy and David sang some songs by the campfire. There was also a foam dance. We attended that for about a half hour then went back to the campfire because that was cooler for us Brownlee kids.
Saturday was filled with a day at Twin Lakes. Amanda's parents were up and all the brownlee kids took a small vacation from school. We didn't rent a paddleboat this time. We had a picnic and walked around the park. The newbies there took pictures for the first time while the vets took pictures of each other.
It was now that I was starting to wish that moments like these could last forever. I was having so much fun, loving my friends, and living in the moment.
I didn't want it to end. Because I knew I'd miss this place and these people.
Saturday night we all got dressed up and went to a restaurant called The Park4. We went out to have a small dessert and toast to the end of of our first year getting through college together, as friends. It was our own icing to the imaginary cake.
Then came the fun part.
We went to the Spring Fling. We danced to crazy songs, rap songs that weren't danceable, rock songs like Fallout Boys's "We're Going Down". It was a dance where you sang along to the lyrics as loud as you could, even if you're a horrible singer.
Because it was another form of bonding. And at this time in the schoolyear, where things were about to end, we wanted to bond and have as many memories as possible.
It was around this time that I knew I had a second home, not just in this place.
Every single person that I interacted with throughout those 10 months made that place my home. I had two lives. In January, I hated that.
I didn't like the forced motion of juggling my life at home with my life at SHU. It seemed like something that I would never get over. I even refrained from calling SHU my home until the very end.
I realized that I was afraid to let go of my life at Brodheadsville because, honestly...
It was the first place, in my life, I could call home. If I let go of it, I wouldn't have a home anymore.
But then I realized that home isn't a house where your family is. It's a place where you can feel safe from anything, no matter what. A place where your family will protect you before themselves. A place where memories and significant events in your life happen. A place where there's that comfort and calmness.
You'll see when you move out it just sort of happens one day one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.
Sunday was an amazingly fun day. It was college day in Kennywood Amusement park.
An amusement park in Pittsburgh (yes, I couldn't believe it myself either).
It was everything an amusement park should be and more. I'm not much of an amusement park ride person but going there was more than just not going on rides. I wanted to be involved in as much as I could before school was over.
I ate a lot of greasy, fatty food, sat on the benches with everyones stuff while they went on rides, took pictures of them on rides making funny faces, and got wet in one of the few water rides open in May. Some would think that this would be quite boring.
However, those people are wrong. Because, like I said, this was the best three days of my freshman college year.
We were there from 12:00 to when the park closed it's doors on all the excited customers.
We walked in as a group anxious to get on rides.
We walked out with the memory of that day imprinted in our brains.

SHU
The last day of my freshman year.
You know when people think (sometimes daydream) about things but they never fully realized it until it was actually happening? This is what this day felt like.
Earlier in the week, one of my best friends, Amanda, wrote this speech for everyone that she had gotten to know in her first, and at that time only, year at SHU. One of my best friends was leaving for Boston. As much as it crushed all of us that she was leaving, I was beyond happy that she was following her dream.
She read us her four and a half page speech, tears falling down mostly off every female face in the room. The guys were quiet, the girls were sniffling from the tears. Not only Amanda, but three other of my friends were leaving: Christine, David, and Jeremy. I was sad.
I came up with the idea of making them posterboard-sized goodbye cards. Every single person I could think of that they knew signed the card. It was gut-wrenching and hard to say goodbye to someone that we grew so close to over the span of 10 months.
Slowly, Brownlee Hall started to become quieter as the students left. On Friday, it was my time to go to my other home. My first home. But I didn't want to go. I knew I would miss my friends so much.
Amanda was there that day when I left. I've moved around so many times in my life, I was tired of saying goodbye to people that I cared about.
You'd think I'd be good at goodbyes. But low and behold, I'm not. I gave her a hug and cried as I walked out the door to what was my home for 10 months. I was saying goodbye to a life that I was finally starting to love. It's amazing that in January, I didn't want to go back to school. And now as I was about ready to leave, I wanted to stay.
I waved goodbye to Brownlee hall and set out for Brodheadsville PA.
August 7 - 11, 2006
Ocean City, Maryland.
The last vacation I'd have with my 05'ers.
Clothes stuffed in our duffel bags, food stored in the coolers, mixed cd's burned, Dominick, Alicia, Tom, AJ, and I set out for 4 hours to OC, MD. It was my first time there and I was excited. I've heard enough about the boardwalk and area that I wanted to experience it for myself.
On the 7th we set out of our driveways and arrived at the place before 2 PM. We got our key, and drove over there. Door opened, we scaned the temporary home for places to out out things. After we got everything situated, we went down to the boardwalk and started our shopping. I was taking it all in at once.
There was two uber-small amusement park areas. There was a Ripley's Believe It Or Not building, and the best fries I've ever tasted:
The next day we went to the beach for the only time in those 5 days.
We laid there for the better of the day, letting the suns rays warm our sun-kissed skin. We jumped in the chilly water whenever we needed to cool off. Dominick and I had another camera war and we also read a book that we brought with us. It was the most relaxing part of our vacation. 
That night we went out for Tom and AJ's birthday. Who would have thought that our friends would have a birthday on the same day? We went to 
We waited for an hour to eat, Dominick and I had another camera war, Alicia flirted with the waiter, and Tom and AJ ate their cake that we got for them.
It was a great dinner. And it was worth the hour wait. We watched the sun set over the inlet by the restaurant, over the roofs of the houses. It was a serene moment that was celebrated in festivity.
When you go to the beach for vacation, miniature golf is a tradition. You just can't go to the beach and NOT miniature golf.
We joked, we laughed, we made holes in one, we didn't make the ball in after the usual 5 turns. We were amateurs and didn't care.
Because in the end it was about being in the moment and never living it down. This was the vacation to remember.
Wednesday was Tom and AJ's birthday. They both wanted to rent a boat and take it out on the water. I've never been on a boat with my friends for hours and we can do whatever. Yes, the boat was owned by the company but for those four hours, it was ours.
We jumped waves, we raced with the 50 mph we could get out of the shabby boat, we laughed, we got mad, we took pictures of each other, the water, the scenery, the sky, and etc.
We had no worries on our chest, free-spirited kids enjoying vacaton as us kiddos should have.
The same night, we walked the boardwalk like champions. We ate more Thrashers fries, went on amusement park rides, and walked on the moonlit beach.
The best moment o the night was when Alicia, Dominick, and I walked to the ocean. Alicia did a twirl, tripped, and tumbled into the ocean.
That would only happen to the friends I have and I love our imprefectness.
Thursday was a cloudy day so we did what any other tourist would do: we climbed up and down the boardwalk another time. There were serious debates over different decals for the gifts we were getting our family members, and also over fudge.
We paid 50 cents to walk on the pier. It was an amazing experience for me, for that was the first time I've ever been on a pier. More pictures were being taken. True beachers were swimming in the freezing water while people were speeding on the ocean with their boats. It was the paradise that I yearn to live on.
We went to one of the coolest restuarants on the boardwalk: Mug and Mallet.
It was as if it came from a picnic. The tables were covered in brown paper as a tablecloth. The best thing was that it was directly across from the Ocean Gallery, probably the coolest decorated place I've ever seen.
Dominick and AJ got crabs with sand on it, I got a burger. Time was slowly windling away, and our reality was coming so close.
The nex morning we packed our bags and set off towards our familar place, where we could sleep in the comformity we knew, doing our everyday routines. We returned to our lives, wishing that we could return to those five days but preserving it in our minds. The summer '06 trip to Ocean City, Maryland is the trip that will always be remembered.

The day I went back to school.
I never thought that summer of '05 could get topped until the August 24th, 2006. This summer had many memories filled with it. Once again, we laughed as a group, got flipping mad at each other, made plans, never followed them, saw every movie imaginable, hung out on most nights, worked our asses off one way or another, and in the end bonded even tighter than we ever imagined. For the first time since January 22nd, I didn't want to leave my home. I was going to miss everything I enjoyed. But as much as I was going to miss it, I missed my friends from school a bit more.
I packed up my life again to move it across the state. I packed up the two cars bringing me to college. But before I left, I waved goodbye to my house. As we were about to drive away, I looked through the car window and, without knowing, said goodbye to the place I could call home for the last time. My mom called me up right as school was starting and told me that we were moving. I knew then that my life was going to go on a different course and I didn't know what would happen.

The start of my sophomore adventure
I can't really describe how great my first semester of my sophmore year has been. I have, therefore, decided to put a LOT of pictures here, throughout my first semester. Every single person in here (plus othes that I haven't captioned) mean he world to me and I love them with all my heart. They are the people who make my life at college worthwhile.

Epilogue
Another year is over and a new is is about to begin. I have on my attire for Dominick's New Years party and I'm ready to go. I wish that 2006 wasn't about to end. Every memory, every photogragh, every laugh, tear, anger, smile.... it was the best year of my life.
I can't imagine what 2007 is going to open its doors with as I enter upon it's first steps. I'll learn and grow more as a woman. I'll make new friends and lose some as well. I can't predict the future. I have no idea what 2007 has in store for me. But I'm coming to meet it with a warm hello and a smile, knowing that somehow I'll be alright.
So when that heavy ton ball reaches the bottom, the grandfather chime at midnight being drowned by the countless screams of "Happy New Year!", the noisemakers going insane, and drinking the most disgusting drink I have ever had to, I'll be thinking to myself, that life seems like it can't get any better.
In 365 days, I'll be writing another one of these. And when I look back on this review, I won't believe how much I have changed. Until then..

I don't know... Nothing has happened at all this weekend so I've had a lot of time to myself to just really think about a lot of things. Nothing special, but at the same time a lot of things.
Never in my life have I felt something as repititious as what I feel for Anthony, and then sometimes lack there of. It's been over a year since we broke up and I still can't get over him. I have no idea why. Lately, everything has been setting me off. And not like things that get me mad, just things that make me think about him. I accidentally came across a photograpgh of two guys kissing on the internet. And no, I wasn't looking at porn, it was one of those time when you roam the net on websites that you know you'll never see again and something just happens to appear. But anyway, I saw that photograph and it's not them two kissing that really made me think of him because he was the only one I've ever kissed. It's really the emotion and the romantic aura that is in the photograph. Photos like those are so raw that, even though you didn't mean to come upon it, when you do, it raises feelings in you that you didn't necessarily want to feel. And that's what I felt when I looked at that photograph. It reminded me of him. Have you ever felt a time where you'd give anything to get rid of something? I think I'd do mostly anything to get rid of this lingering feeling that I feel for him that he very obviously doesn't feel back. I want to let go of it and I can't and it hurts me when it really shouldn't... because it doesn't hurt him. He's been over it forever. And I just wish I could be.
It's like how every single thing reminds me of him. Winter is his favorite season. He is in LOVE with snow. So when Seton Hill had those two snow days for the first time in five years, he was the first thing that popped in my mind. Because I knew that he'd have off as well. I mean come on... it's high school.
And that's another thing. Granted this year hasn't been as hard as last year but why is it that college is about a million times harder than what people make it seem like? People think high school is hard.... I don't even have to think it because I KNOW that when they go to college they'll be hit with the hardest weight called impossible that college brings along. It's like one of those unwritten things that people forget to tell you about. It feels like high school is the elementary of schooling and college is the high school learning. But I guess it's good for the future. It prepares you to work hard in your career, and even life. I know that when I probably graduate college I'm going to feel a sense of accomplishment, a feeling that I've just surpassed the most hardest four years of my life thus far. And I'm going to feel like I can do absolutely anything. Then the real world will punch me in the face a thousand times over and I'll say that college was pretty easy. But until then, I'll take the weight.
I've been thinking about my life lately. I mean I'm still absolutely happy with my life. There's nothing going on right now that could make me really hate life (except the lack of the feeling that I'm loved by someone else). But I've been thinking more along the lines that I'm afraid I'm going to fail at, not only my future, but at what I want to do with my life. I'm afriad to be a failure. And people can tell me that I won't be because they have faith and all that, but they can't assure me that. Nothing can assure me that. Only I can. It's not that I don't have faith in myself because I do. I just really don't want to dissapoint my parents. My dad's always had a sense of understanding of the things I've done, even if it's not up to his standards. He knows I tried my best. It's my mom that I really try to impress. I really don't think I've impressed her that much since I've graduated from high school. I just don't know why. I feel like I'm failing her every day. I mean, I don't think about this every day, I just feel it pretty much every single time I get a bad grade on something. I got a B+/A- on this paper I did and the first thing I thought was "I wonder if mom would be proud of this?" It's like an overwhelming omen to have that thought for a lot of things that I do. I just don't want to disappoint her. It doesn't bother me as much if she gets mad at something I do. But if she's disappointed.... that hurts a lot. It's a feeling I've felt since HS. You see, my sister is pretty much a genius when it comes to school. She gets A grades... and my mom is pretty proud of her. I would be too. So I feel like I have to live up to those standards to make my mom happy and it's hard really because I know I'll never do that schooling-wise.
I just don't know how to make her unbelievably happy. I don't think it's my job to do it totally but I think I should at least help. She's had such a crappy life. I don't want to be something that adds on to it. I know she feels that she raised two amazing kids, because my sister and I really turned out great. There's just these little things that get to me. I think that may be a reasonable part as to why I went to a college pretty far from home. Like, if I do bad, she can't affect me as much. I also hate it when she yells at me. Like she yelled at me at the beginning of the semster about something that I'd rather not explain and then just left because she had to go. And I just felt so bad. It stayed in my mind until she called back like 20 minutes later. Over break she asked me what I wanted to do with my life. And it was quite ironic actually, because not too long before that, I made a list on here actually of things I wanted to do in my life before I got married at least. For some reason, I just couldn't tell her. I don't think it was because I didn't feel like telling her, I think it was because I was afraid that if I told her, she'd tell me to think logical, that some of them couldn't and maybe even wouldn't happen. I was afraid of getting my dreams ruined. I still am. I'm such a huge dreamer and to have her possibly shoot my ideas down.... it'll hurt me more than her hurting me...
Ok... well I think I just poured my heart out.... so I guess I'll end it here for the night.. I'm a bit sleepy anyhow. Until next time, goodnight =) |

I haven't posted since before New Years... I was supposed to do that whole year end review thing but never finished it... maybe I'll do that after dinner... anyway...
Sometime last week I read the "Dear John" by Nicolas Sparks. It was an amazing book. I never though someone could be so strong to let go of the person they loved most. The end chapters were pretty sad. His dad died and only like 7 people were at his funeral. His dad was socially awkward but still... I could never imagine that happening to my dad. I mean he's not socially awkward but he's not socially active either. I know a lot of the Masons would be there.... that's if he decides to stay in Pennsylvania. Obviously the fam, if he's still with Nancy at that time then they'll all be there.... I suppose this is a bit morbid to be thinking of who would be at my father's funeral when he's at the rip old age of 60. He has a long ways to go. And I hope it's a very long time.
It's weird when I think about these things. You know, those things when you're thinking to yourself "What would I do if so and so died, just like that, with no warning? Would I want a warning? Or would I want to be a bit selfish and spare myself the pain of knowing and have them die suddenly?
Maybe it's just me. But I've been thinking about that more often lately than I ever have in my life. I don't think I'm scared to lose the people that mean the most to me. I mean I am in some ways but in others I'm not. I have all these people: my friends, my family, hopefully a future significant other. And they all sourround me and form me and represent every part of me that I've ever come to know and be familiar with. Maybe that's what I'm afriad of; I'll lose a part of me, even if it's just a sliver, and I don't and possibly at that time won't, know how to fill that part back up. Do I mush everything else together? I suppose I shouldn't even be asking this of myself because I actually have lost a close friend... but that was years ago... I was 14 or 15 at that time. I don't even know how I got through it. I still think of him but I don't cry like I used to...
wow this is turning out to be a pretty depressing entry.
On a lighter note, my birthday is Saturday and I'm excited as all f***. Elyse is planning something and I don't know what it is exactly. All I know is that she wanted me to sleep over somewhere but I can't because I'll be hanging out with Amanda and the brownlee crew. We're going to have us some fun haha. I hope at least. Elyse told me to be ready at noonish so I'm probably going to have to get up at like 10ish to go to brunch, take a shower and make myself look damn good. I should pamper myself one day at least lol. I have absolutely no idea what she's doing but I know that the rest of the gang is involved because Marshall said tonight when val drove us back after Grey's Anatomy that he'll see my Saturday.... I really want to know lol but it's in about 36 hours so I'm not too anxious but am at the same time. I don't know. I just hope that I'm back at like... 7... I want to get myself pretty for when I hang out with Amanda too... hopefully Dave, Nick and the rest of the brownlee boys are there... I might start our official party later because I don't know who's DSA'ing and that whole whatnot. I told Amanda to have Quinn get me Coconut Jack but I don't know if I should get one bottle or two.... since there's going to be quite a number of us Although I don't think half the people there will drink, Nick and Dave drink A LOT... like they get trashed... maybe I'll tell the, to bring their own shit because I don't want my stuff getting wasted lol. I'm so excited. I don't expect to get presents from anyome, I hope but I don't expect... I know I'm going to be having cards coming in so I'm going to have to have Val or someone help me open my mailbox haha... I know it'll come and go so fast and then my day will be gone but I'm still very excited. I'm bringing my camera with me... I need to go to Walmart and get Pink Lemonade Kool-Aid sugar and grenadine. I'm hoping that this stuff that I'm going to buy will taste the same as what I had on New Years... ehh.. If not then I'll throw out the kool aid and give the grenadine to Marshall and give the rum to someone else who wants it because I don't want ti keep it... it either gets finished or given to someone else...
Anyway, I need to go to sleep so bye... |
